The Cubs have $58 million coming off the books this year. I would have to assume that Mr.Ricketts wouldn't bring in Theo and not let him spend all or more of it. So what to spend it on?

It's not that I don't agree that he's the best player in the game. And let's move past the fact that there is a George Foreman guarantee he will be wearing a Cardinals uniform next year. It's the fact that it's going to take 8, 9 years to lock this guy up. There's no way he has more than two or three years before declining stats start to creep in. No, for that amount of time, my money's on Prince Fielder.
So we sign Prince? Well that leaves a lot more money to spend. Pitching, pitching, pitching. Every last penny should be spent on pitching. That's just my two cents. Take it for what it's worth.
